SyBBURE Student Shanay Desai recognized for top presentation at ABRCMS
SyBBURE student Shanay Desai was designated part of the Top 10% Best Cancer Biology Presentations at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minitorized Scientists (ABRCMS). Out of over 300 undergraduate students presenting research in cancer biology, Shanay was given the top 10% award based on presentation design, research thoroughness, and ability to answer follow up questions from judges. Congratulations, Shanay!

SyBBURE Searle students do cool stuff by traveling the world to attend conferences and disseminate their research findings. Just this summer:
Alisa Shmidt presented at the Materials Research Society Spring Meeting & Exhibit in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Jared Robinson presented at the American Society for Mass Spectrometry Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Joyce Sanks and Andrei Olaru traveled to Frankfurt, Germany for immersive research experiences at the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History.
Isabella Wynocker and Patrick Darmawi-Iskandar presented research at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Nuclear and Space Radiation Effects Conference in Provo, Utah.
Cassandra Atzrodt visited Vail, Colorado to present her research at the Kern Lipid Conference.
Min Joo Kim presented research at the US Korea Conference: Science and Technology in the Wake of the Pandemic, which was held in Arlington, Virginia.

Grace DePietro Awarded Erasmus Mundus Scholarship
Grace, a recent SyBBURE alumnus (Electrical Engineering, Class of 2021), has received an Erasmus Mundus scholarship. The scholarship, funded by the European Union, will cover tuition, insurance, travel, and a monthly allowance for Grace while she attends a joint masters program in Ireland, Spain, and Norway for renewable energy in the marine environment.

SyBBURE student Minna Apostolova has received the Biochemistry Department Aida Nureddin Outstanding Junior Research Award. This is an award for the top junior conducting research in the Vanderbilt University Biochemistry and Chemical Biology Program. Congratulations, Minna!
